Plantiful helps you look after your house plants and reminds you when they need water. This page explains what we keep about you, why, and how to remove it. We don't sell your data, show ads or use tracking cookies.
Plantiful is run by Clotilde Ecorcheville, in France, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. Clotilde Ecorcheville is responsible for your data (the “controller”). You can reach us at contact@plantiful.io.
What we keep
- Your Google account basics: your name, email address, profile photo and Google account ID, when you sign in with Google. We never see your Google password.
- Your Apple ID basics:when you sign in with Apple in the iOS app, your Apple user ID and the email address Apple shares (which can be a private relay address if you choose “Hide My Email”), plus your name if you share it. We never see your Apple ID password.
- Your plants: what you enter, such as nicknames, species, rooms, notes, adoption dates and watering intervals, plus any photos you add.
- Care history: when you water, repot or otherwise look after a plant.
- Reminder settings: whether reminders are on, at what time, and for which plants.
- Your iPhone's notification address: a code from Apple that lets us send reminders to your device, if you turn notifications on.
- Technical logs: short records of requests and errors (such as your account ID and the time), so we can keep the app working.
Why we use it
Only to run Plantiful for you: show your garden, work out which plants are thirsty, send the reminders you asked for, and fix problems. The legal basis is that it's needed to provide the service you signed up for (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).
We don't use your data for advertising, profiling or training AI models, and we don't sell or share it except with the providers below.
Who helps us run it
- Amazon Web Services stores your account, plants, history and photos in Ireland (EU), and passes reminders to Apple.
- Vercel hosts the app. Your requests pass through its servers when you use Plantiful.
- Google handles signing in.
- Apple delivers notifications to your iPhone.
Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where data leaves the EU, it's protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
On your device
We use one cookie to keep you signed in. If you water a plant while offline, the app saves it on your device until it can sync. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. When you delete a plant, its photo and care history go with it. When you delete your account (Profile → Delete my account), everything above is deleted straight away. Technical logs are kept for a short time by our hosting providers, then removed automatically.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Most of this you can do in the app. For anything else, write to contact@plantiful.ioand we'll reply within a month.
If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr), or the authority where you live.
Children
Plantiful isn't meant for children under 15. If you think a child has signed up, let us know and we'll delete the account.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is important, we'll tell you in the app first.
